America will grind to a halt? On the contrary.

Here's the problem I have with Trump's made up explanations. The Constitution has specific provisions that ensure continuity of government. It doesn't grind to a halt. For example, if a president become enfeebled by illness and became incapacitated, unable to perform his duties, the legal and Constitutional transfer of power to the next person in the line of secession occurs by default, ensuring a continuity of government. Or, should the president become encumbered by other situations which would hinder the ability to perform the duties as president, the same transfer of powers would occurs. Federal investigations requiring extended sworn testimony of the president such as to impede his ability to carry out his duties would fall into such a category.

Trump is trying to subvert and obstruct justice in the investigation's primary purpose of determining if he knew at any time before or during his campaign and subsequent election, that a hostile foreign state was assisting in any manner, and did he condone and/or assist in any manner in violation of Federal election law. If this occurred, it is an act of subversion and encroaches treasonous territory. If the Mueller investigation confirms the above, it would be just one high crime required for impeachment.

Add to this, the entirety of scope outlined in Rosenstein's order appointing the special council in which investigations have thus far determined crimes have been committed, resulting in the indictment and conviction of several individuals directly involved in the Trump campaign. Other individuals and alleged Trump associates are still under investigation. Some indications are that Trump's closest family may be involved which would further encumber his ability to perform as president.

Trump knows both criminally and constitutionally he is finished. Everything he does now is an attempt to prolong the inevitable and shield his family, business enterprises, friends and associates from prosecution. While the current situation imposes undue stress on the nation, the rule of law and the understanding that no man is above the law must prevail for America to survive as a nation. America must stay focused and not allow the rule of law to be subverted by treachery, conspiracy, or deceit.
