The American dream...what a concept right? Unfortunately for many Americans, their dreams are not dreams at all...they're nightmares! For many Americans, their hopes and dreams have been dashed by corporate/wall street's insatiable greed, joblessness, a piss poor economy, and a government run by carpet bagging, corporate owned representatives who are the puppets of big business, big banking, wall street, and foreign interests. The writings of our forefathers are filled with references to tyranny. A word we don't hear much of or use lately but describes EXACTLY what is taking place in America today.
The right wing oligarchs are looking to destroy hard working Americans by taking away their workers rights. Yes, the repuglican party, guided by the hands of the likes of the Koch Brothers and other corporate giants are now working day and night to break unions all across America. Wisconsin is only the first step in their "Final Solution" for the middle class. And while their plan is obvious, their ulterior motive is to destroy all unions because the union is one of the strongest voices of the hard working middle class and a supporter of everything corporate America despises....anything that detracts from making obscene profits on the sweat and sometimes blood of hard working Americans.
The recent ruling by SCOTUS relative to Citizens United is viewed by many as an act of subversion. Imagine, our country's own supreme court undermining our political system by classifying big business' as persons, thus allowing untold millions of dollars to flow into the coffers of elected officials to do their bidding and thereby undermining Americas' political system.
Main Entry: sub·ver·sion
Pronunciation: s&b-'v&r-zh&n
Function: noun
: a systematic attempt to overthrow or undermine a government or political system by persons working from within; also : the crime of committing acts in furtherance of such an attempt —
And now, we have a wave of tea bagging, republicans who under the guise of balancing the budget, undertaking an endeavor to break up every union across this great land! They want to balance the budget on the backs of the American poor and the middle class, but continue to provide BILLIONS of dollars to corporations and the richest 2% of America in the form of tax breaks. They want to cut social security, retirement funds, and desperately needed social programs. The American middle class is being pushed into extinction by the rich corporations, all at the hands of their paid for, minion, government officials.
Some famous quotes to think about:
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. "
C. S. Lewis
"Under every government the [last] resort of the people, is an appeal to the sword; whether to defend themselves against the open attacks of a foreign enemy, or to check the insidious encroachments of domestic foes. Whenever a people ... entrust the defence of their country to a regular, standing army, composed of mercenaries, the power of that country will remain under the direction of the most wealthy citizens."
"Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide."
John Adams
"The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men."
Samuel Adams
"The shaft of the arrow had been feathered with one of the eagle's own plumes. We often give our enemies the means of our own destruction." - (no more evident than last November's elections giving republicans the majority in the House)
Aesop
"How strangely will the Tools of a Tyrant pervert the plain Meaning of Words!"
Samuel Adams
And finally and most dangerously quoted...
"Arms in the hands of individual citizens may be used at individual discretion for the defence of the country, the over-throw of tyranny, or in private self-defense."
John Adams
America, after reading the quotes above what say you? Is it not time to break the grip of corporations on America's political system? Is it not time to DEMAND that the people we elect do the bidding of "We the People" and NOT the will of big business who fund the coffers of this perverse government of corporatist carpetbaggers?
Do not allow this country to fall at the hands of tyrants, to the lies and destructive and divisive rhetoric of the right wing, teabagger/republican party...for in the end, the fate of America is truly in the hands, and the will of "We the People"!
I pray for the survival of America...and the return of the real American dream...Freedom from Oppression...and a better life for our children and future generations of Americans...or is it really just a dream afterall?
